Community Supported Agriculture

CSAs are wonderful things, for both farmer and supporter. The great thing about them is that the farmer gets the money up-front, at a time when they have the most inputs but no merchandise and therefore no money coming in. In return the “community supporter” who has purchased a “share” of the produce for the season receives a certain amount of fresh produce each week for the duration of time they bought into the program. Direct farm to table, fresh produce for the customer. Up-front money during the slow season for the farmer. A wonderful combination.

We have actually actually sold our of our CSA shares this year. We will generally offer full-season and half-season shares and if you are interested please check back in toward the middle of the summer to see if we have opened up more spots for our Fall, Half-Season Share. Please also check out other local farms to see if they have any openings left!! CSAs are a wonderful way of supporting your local food system and we encourage you to seek them out, here or elsewhere.

Recipes and Resources

Fresh produce is wonderful. Local fresh produce is even better! Not only does it taste better, but it is better for the environment, better for your body, and can be a lot more fun to cook with. This is because when it is local there are more of the nutrients in each item than the store bought equivalent that had to be harvested early, stored long-term and possibly sprayed to ensure it does not go bad. So not only are those nutrient still there, but the flavor can be vastly different!

This will be the section of the website to check out recipes and resources for cooking some of the things you are used to cooking, and some that you are not. There are lots of ways to do Mushrooms, creative ways to use Squash, Eggplant and others, as well as new ideas for the new vegetables, nuts, and fruits that will come your way.
